Adolf Loos' Steiner house, built in 1910 in Vienna, is an excellent example of his ability to work creatively and effectively within constraints. Loos saw the exterior of a structure the public side and he typically took control of the outer aesthetics while leaving the interior open for the interpretation and expression of the client. This was quite a break from the master architect attitude that his contemporaries practiced. For those of you who know me, you know that I generally dislike modernist architecture but this is one work that I appreciate more than most.
